Welcome to the Survivorship Series!

Together, 25 young adults facing cancer (patients, survivors, or caregivers) will go through a 6-week, online program experience where you’ll hit the highlights of our workshops!  You’ll form a tight-knit community and every other week, you’ll take part in a different 2-hour program with the same group of young adults moving together through the series.

In week 1 you’ll join a Creative Art Workshop, in week 3 a Young Adult Cancer Hangout + Game Night, and in week 5 a Creative Writing/Journaling Workshop.  In between workshops, you’ll have access to a private Facebook group for your cohort of 25 young adults where you can connect and communicate.  You may only take part in the series once, and when you sign up you are committing to taking part in all 6 weeks.

The first round of the Survivorship Series has been scheduled and starts on Wednesday, Feb. 17th!

Week 1:  Wednesday, February 17 @ 4 pm PT / 6 pm CT / 7 pm ET – Creative Art Workshop (a very cool, cactus paper mosaic)

Ask Your Friends To Give One And Get One!

water

With the world in constant flux, Lacuna Loft has decided to open our virtual doors and bring as many people inside as we can!  In that spirit, we’re inviting your friends and family to a Give One, Get One Event!

So, how does it work?  Lacuna Loft runs free, online supportive programs for young adult cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers (that’s you guys!).  Our programs are unique in the support they provide, the connections they create, and the measurable, positive patient outcomes we improve.  Our programs have been shown to improve quality of life for young adult cancer patients and survivors.

But you know what else?  They’re fun!

Now, anyone can join one of our online Give One, Get One Events, experience a program just like our courageous survivors do, and pay it forward at the same time.  For every person who takes part in an online Give One, Get One Event, they’ll support a spot in another online program for a young adult cancer survivor!

Get a spot in a fun, creative program at Lacuna Loft and Give a spot in another workshop to a young adult cancer survivor!

Would you mind sharing the word with your family and friends?  We have several Give One, Get One Events already scheduled!  Send them here to learn more and to give one and get one!

Lacuna Loft Is Five!

cupcakes in a row

The last 5 years have been an incredible ride.  Lacuna Loft was granted our nonprofit status 5 years ago in April…I was just about to move to California and had very little idea of what was in store for me, much less the brand new organization I was leading.  Over the last 5 years, I have had the privilege of connecting with thousands of other young adults who have faced cancer courageously and without hesitation.  We have come together in Lacuna Loft’s virtual rooms, sharing joys and sorrows, comforting one another, and lending empathic ears.  The power of our collective voices, the power of hearing that single voice who could validate our experience, is immeasurable.

Thank you for your presence.  Thank you for your love.  Thank you for your generosity with one another.

For that next young adult diagnosed with cancer, consider giving $5 for 5 years.

Bid, Bid, Bid!

Our online auction closes Saturday, January 11th at 11:59 pm PT!  There are so many fun things to bid on from gift baskets to one-of-a-kind experiences, handmade artwork to sports memorabilia, and more!

When we decided to postpone the in-person gala, we immediately knew we needed to bring the awesome auction items online to our broader community.  Our courageous survivors are spread all around the country and the world.  Now you can share the auction with your friends and family.  All proceeds go directly to fuel our programs so have some fun along the way and grab some great stuff!

In addition to the silent auction, we also have Lacuna Loft swag for purchase.  Tees and hoodies, as well as limited-edition bags and pint glasses, are available and all proceeds go directly to supporting Lacuna Loft programs.

Masquerade Gala Update

Hello all!

A little bit of a different type of blog content today.  In mid-October, we made the decision to postpone the Masquerade on the Moon Gala.  While Chicago is a central location, we decided that this year we needed to embrace the community that we’ve built online over the past 5 years.  We love seeing everyone in person and hope to host a more traditional gala again next year, but until then we’ve moved the Silent Auction online!  Starting in mid-December, everyone near and far can participate in the online silent auction to support Lacuna Loft!  So many of our community members made some really spectacular items for the auction too.  We have so many great auction items and I am so excited to see us all come together!

In addition to the silent auction, we’ll also have Lacuna Loft swag for purchase.  Tees and hoodies, as well as limited-edition bags and pint glasses, will be available and all proceeds go directly to supporting Lacuna Loft programs.  Stay tuned for more updates and for your chance to get in on the fun!

Warmly,

Mallory, Founder + CEO

Last Chance To Come And Masquerade!

Update:  The Gala has been postponed.  We will be hosting an online auction in mid-December so that you can join in on the silent auction fun from anywhere.  Stay tuned for more details and if you have any questions, please email aerial@lacunaloft.org.

This week is your last chance to join us in Chicago for the Masquerade on the Moon Gala or to support from afar!  The event will feature a hilarious Emcee, himself a young adult cancer survivor as well as a silent auction, cocktails and hor d’oeuvres, limited edition merchandise, and so much more.  Come and celebrate with Lacuna Loft either in Chicago or from your own home!

Learn more and grab your swag here!

We’re signing off early this week and next week will be taking a very quick recovery break from programming (except for the Unspoken Ink Creative Writing Workshop and the Meditation Workshop!).  See you in November!
