The center of the wood on this piece has a naturally occurring dark spot.
That dark spot could represent many things for many people - loss, regret, a difficult past.
For me, this spot is cancer. Quite literally as well - the cancer removed from my body was tissue that had turned from a healthy pink to a worrisome black.
But I found beauty in this dark spot while painting this piece. And that beauty has radiated in an outward direction.
Let me explain.
I chose light. A smile, a positive attitude, empathy for myself, my providers, and my peers. When that light, despite the darkness, is brought into a room, there is a ripple effect. The light turns to vivid colors as you begin to see the joyful things in those around you and thus, your journey, even though it is so HARD and so HEAVY, has become a little easier to shoulder.
Choose light, spread light.
